Intricately carved attractive and unusual piece of Gothic Carved Oak furniture dating from the early 19th century. The carving is fine and very detailed and the oak has an good patina.
There is a long drawer along one side, the frieze on the other side is carved to match but with no drawer, so good to look at from all sides, the table has very attractive carved legs.
At the corners there are carvings of lions heads or the Green Man and the feet are the heads and curved scaly bodies of Sea creatures they are joined with a chunky caved stretcher.
The three plank top has a carved edge, the drawer is on one side only but this piece was definitely intended to be viewed from all sides.
Would make a great hall table.
