Lovely Ersari rug, hand-knotted from good quality wool and dyed with natural vegetable dyes. An excellent quality rug, the deep red and dark blue hues typical of Ersari rugs. The foundation of the rug is undyed goat or sheep's wool which is how traditional nomadic rugs were traditionally woven as opposed to wool pile on a cotton foundation.

Ersari is one of the most important Turkoman tribes, it's people are considered among the best weavers of the 24 clans with the most specialist and smallest clans being Ersari and Tekke. Originally nomadic, these proud people are mostly settled in Northern Afghanistan in the area bordered by Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.
