An early, rare GPO type 16 telephone by Ericsson of Sweden. In good original condition complete with wooden junction box and original leads. These phones have several colloquial names including the Coffee Grinder, Eiffel Tower and Skeleton to mention a few but was described by Ericsson in their official catalogue as "The Royal". One of the first mass produced telephones. Ericsson made this classic model from 1895 to 1931. The legs form the magnet for the magneto generator, while the induction coil is inside the column below the handset. The metal is a little tarnished but could be polished to a shine if desired. Untested. A really interesting piece of history that looks great on display.
