Unusual and rare 4 button version of the black Bakelite vintage 332 telephone from the 1950’s with metal dial, original rayon covered cord and Ericson handset. Telephone has been manufactured by ITI (Indian Telephone Industries) and is able to make and receive calls in the UK. The phone was originally designed for intercommunication with two further extensions and internally it has all of the contacts, relays and other components to fulfil this function. If the phone was to be used connected to other receivers it would require some additional wiring and a 6volt DC power supply. The phone is in excellent condition for its age and makes a striking statement on a desk either connected to a modern exchange line or simply as an eye catching ornament. Outgoing calls can be made on UK exchanges still set up for loop disconnection dialling but if planning to use on a line check first that this type of dialling is supported as not all BT exchanges in the UK still accept rotary dialling and would require the phone to be converted to MF tone dialling. The internal trembler bell works but in its present configuration has been disconnected. 332 telephone with 4 chrome buttons labelled as Extension, Ring 1, Ring 2 and Exchange and red indicator light. Telephone unit manufactured by ITI with GEC dial and Ericson handset and modern UK line cord. Very good condition with no scratches or chips to casing, reliable dial and 4 chromium buttons. Weight is just under 2.5kilos
