"Theory of the Tides" astronomical print taken from J Reynolds Collection of "Astronomical Diagrams" published in 1846.
One of a set of 12 hand-tinted astronomical prints with explanatory card. There are two main images and two subjects on this print, Eclipses, including eclipse of the Moon and eclipse of the Sun, and the Theory of Tides. Text at the bottom gives a fuller explanation of the theory of tides. The several publishers indicated on this print suggest that it is of a slightly later date than some of the others in the set.
The corners are a little dog eared and there is some faint foxing but the print would still look great framed and displayed on a wall.
