Beautiful vintage knife, I believe made by the Tebu people, indicated by the characteristic bulb on the bottom of the sheath. The single edged sharp blade is etched down each side and the leather sheath has has been made from embossed cow hide. There is a small amount of rust on the blade which looks like it would come off easily, other than that the dagger / knife is in good condition and would make an excellent addition to any collection of African tribal art.
The Tebu ot Toubou people are an ethnic group inhabiting northern Chad, southern Libya, northeastern Niger and northwestern Sudan. They live mostly as nomadic herders or farmers near oasis's.
