Nice bronze mask from the Kingdom of Benin, Africa. The mask would have been made using the "loss wax" technique where the mask is first sculpted from wax, a mould set around the wax and the the wax replaced with mouton bronze.
The centre loop at the top of the mask is there so that the mask can be attached to the hip using a belt.
Great piece of unusual and interesting decor for a shelf or for hanging on a wall.
